Suryakumar Yadav showcased his destructive batting prowess during India’s third T20I against the West Indies, leaving fans and experts hopeful for his success in the upcoming ODI matches. He is really working hard and seeking advice from experienced players who have excelled in ODI cricket, to develop the right attitude and mindset. Sharma further highlighted Yadav’s journey in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL), where despite a slow start, he accumulated an impressive total of 605 runs in 16 matches at a staggering strike rate of 181.13 and an average of 43.21.

Yadav’s explosiveness with the bat requires the team to provide him the freedom to play his natural game. Sharma expressed the need to create a situation where Yadav can find his groove and gain confidence. The skipper cited Yadav’s performance in the third T20I as an example of his ability to change the game single-handedly, even when the top-order fails to deliver.

While Yadav boasts impressive statistics in T20Is, his numbers in ODIs paint a different picture. In 26 ODIs, Yadav has managed to maintain a decent strike rate of 101.38 but has scored only 511 runs at an average of 24.33, with two half-centuries to his name. In contrast, his T20I record is outstanding, with 1780 runs in 51 matches at a remarkable strike rate of 174.33 and an average of 45.63, including 14 half-centuries and three centuries.

As India looks ahead to their ODI campaign, Suryakumar Yadav’s performance in the third T20I has raised hopes for a successful transition to the 50-over format. The team management and captain Rohit Sharma believe in Yadav’s immense potential and are committed to providing him the necessary opportunities and support to excel in ODIs.
