Survey Reveals Class 10 Students as Top Consumers of Tobacco Products

According to a recent survey conducted by the Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute in New Delhi, Class 10 students were found to be the most frequent consumers of tobacco products. The institute received a total of 71,39,473 calls until April 30th this year, and after analyzing the data, concluded that those who had passed their Class 10 exams made up the highest number of tobacco users. The survey also indicated that Uttar Pradesh had the largest number of calls, with a total of 1,23,508 calls, and that males accounted for 98% of the callers. The institute observed World No Tobacco Day on Wednesday and shared this data, explaining that 1,56,644 individuals have given up tobacco use. The National Tobacco Cessation Service (NTQLS) was originally established in a single room with six counsellor stations, and it was expanded in 2020 by then Union Minister of State for Health, Ashwini Kumar Choubey.
