The 27th edition of the CIBC Charles-Bruneau Tour has successfully concluded, achieving its objective to raise funds for children with cancer. A total of 770 cyclists completed one of the 11 routes, covering an impressive distance of over 2,345 kilometers. Together, they managed to raise a net amount of $3,550,000, surpassing their initial goal.

This year’s event brought together a record number of 1,125 participants, making it a true testament to the dedication and support for the cause. The funds raised will enable the Charles-Bruneau Foundation to continue its mission of providing the best chances of recovery for children with cancer. The money will be used to fund research and the development of projects in pediatric hemato-oncology.

Despite the challenging conditions of extreme heat with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, the cyclists remained resilient and determined to complete the tour. The entire team worked tirelessly to ensure that all participants were adequately hydrated, even resorting to water guns to refresh the groups along the way. The extra challenge brought an even greater sense of accomplishment, and the cyclists crossed the finish line with smiles on their faces.

Throughout the tour, inspiring young ambassadors shared their stories, embodying the values of solidarity and resilience. Their presence served as a source of motivation for the participants, encouraging them to pedal for the cause. The Foundation extends its gratitude to the 51 children who participated in the heart pairing, as well as the six child heroes who got involved this year.

The success of the CIBC Charles-Bruneau Tour wouldn’t have been possible without the support of its partners. CIBC, IGA, Cascades, and RONA, amongst others, have made significant contributions and demonstrated their commitment to promoting the Foundation’s vision. Their involvement has played a crucial role in the tour’s success.

Paul Doucet, spokesperson for the Charles-Bruneau Foundation, expressed his gratitude to everyone who participated, donated, and supported the cause. The amount raised in this edition will make a difference in the lives of the 2,000 children who receive cancer treatments annually. Doucet looks forward to the 28th edition and expects even greater dedication and commitment from participants.

Rosa Trunzo, Senior Vice-President and Region Head, Quebec region, Personal Banking at CIBC, emphasized the bank’s pride in supporting the Charles-Bruneau Foundation. As the main partner of the Tour, CIBC has been actively involved for the past 17 years, aiming to create a lasting impact on communities. Trunzo thanked everyone who contributed to the cause, highlighting their significant role in creating a world where no one has to fear a cancer diagnosis.

The Charles-Bruneau Foundation was founded in 1990 and has since been dedicated to providing better chances of recovery for children with cancer. Through substantial investments of over $44 million, specialized Charles-Bruneau Units have been established within the four university hospital centers in Quebec that care for children with cancer. With the recent commitments, the funds allocated to research will total $55 million, making the Charles-Bruneau Foundation the leading funder of pediatric hemato-oncology research in Quebec.

The 27th edition of the CIBC Charles-Bruneau Tour has been a remarkable success, uniting passionate individuals for an important cause. The funds raised will go a long way in improving the lives of children with cancer and advancing research. The Foundation expresses its gratitude to all the participants, volunteers, and partners who made this accomplishment possible.
