Staff from Stockport NHS Foundation Trust showed their solidarity and support for the LGBTQI+ community by participating in Stockport Pride, an annual event celebrating diversity. The event, held in the town center, featured live music, on-stage performances, and a range of festivities.

Stepping Hill Hospital and local community NHS services, both managed by the trust, were well-represented at Stockport Pride. Alongside hundreds of other participants, the trust’s colleagues joined in the parade, which started in the Underbanks area of Stockport and included vibrant displays of rainbow flags.

The highlight of Stockport Pride was the main parade, but there were also numerous on-stage performers and a variety of activities for attendees to enjoy. Festivities included a silent disco, drag story time, and a mobile cocktail van, creating an exciting and inclusive atmosphere for everyone.

In addition to the entertainment, the event provided valuable information to attendees. Stockport NHS Foundation Trust set up an information stand in the marketplace, where visitors could learn about recruitment opportunities and participate in clinical research. The Stockport Health branch of Unison, which includes trust staff members, also had a presence at the event.

Stockport NHS Foundation Trust has been at the forefront of promoting LGBTQI+ equality in the Greater Manchester region. It was one of the first NHS trusts to sign up to the All Equals Charter, demonstrating its commitment to inclusivity. The trust also maintains an active staff network specifically for LGBTQI+ colleagues.

Amanda Bromley, the director of people and organisational development for Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, expressed her pride in supporting LGBTQI+ colleagues and the local community. She emphasized the trust’s dedication to participating in events like Stockport Pride, as they provide a positive and enjoyable way to demonstrate support. Bromley looks forward to the trust’s continued involvement in future Pride celebrations.
