Indian hospitality company Sterling Holidays Resorts, a subsidiary of the Thomas Cook India group, plans to introduce a new hotel every month in the second half of 2021 in a bid to capitalize on robust domestic tourism growth. The company expects to increase its property portfolio to 55 locations in the coming year. It currently operates 40 resorts across India with 2,447 rooms, including 15 company-owned resorts, 10 leased properties, and 15 management contracts. Sterling Holidays Resorts aims to add 188 rooms across six resorts in the first half of the current financial year. The expansion will focus on hill stations and small towns that attract domestic tourists, with the growth driven by frequent family breaks and multiple domestic trips instead of traditional international travel. The firm said cost control and digitization across all its businesses should add to the bottom line.
