Patty Simonton, Strategic Initiatives Manager for MCEDC, said the corporation’s goal is to support local businesses and connect them with innovations that strengthen their industry. The event featured pitches from startups, including thermal insulation company Liatris, Inc. and H2O Connected, LLC, which develops technologies for detecting water loss in tank toilets. Startup leaders focused on sustainability advancements linked to reducing waste, driving renewable energy and understanding product sourcing. The Vice President of Sustainability and Supplier Diversity for Marriott International, Denise Naguib, explained that the hospitality industry always seeks to understand innovations that aid hotels in solving key challenges. The event provided opportunities for startups to showcase their technologies and deepen relationships with hotels in the area.
