Star Wars Fan Sentenced to 9 Years for Plot to Kill Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle
In a shocking turn of events, a Star Wars-obsessed man has been sentenced to nine years in prison for plotting to kill Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle. Jaswant Singh Chail, a 21-year-old man from London, was caught in the act on Christmas Day in 2021 with a loaded crossbow.
Chail, who was wearing a metal mask inspired by the dark force in Star Wars, boldly declared his intentions to a guard at the castle. He stated, I’m here to kill the queen, before dropping the weapon and surrendering. Justice Nicholas Hilliard acknowledged the seriousness of the crimes committed by Chail. Despite conflicting expert diagnoses, the judge concluded that Chail had lost touch with reality and had become psychotic. As a result, he would be returning to Broadmoor Hospital, a secure psychiatric treatment center, for further treatment. If his condition improves, Chail will serve the remaining balance of his sentence in prison.
Chail had pleaded guilty in February to several charges, including violating the Treason Act by possessing a loaded crossbow with the intention to harm the queen, possessing an offensive weapon, and making threats to kill.
Before being apprehended, Chail sent a video to his family, in which he apologized for his impending actions, explained his mission, and expressed his expectation of dying in the process. The incident occurred just months before the monarch’s passing in September 2022 at the age of 96.
