From June 26, the Stamp and Registration Department of Indore district will launch a month-long campaign to recover unpaid stamp duty. This decision was taken after scrutinizing records of defaulters, who owe over Rs 1 lakh each. Approximately 300 defaulters were identified, and plans to auction their properties for recovery of the dues have been initiated. Senior district registrar Deepak Kumar Sharma held a meeting with all sub-registrars to inform them about the action that will be taken in this regard. In the first phase of the campaign, demands will be issued for recovery of outstanding revenue. If the defaulters fail to comply, their property will be seized. To broadcast the names of defaulters with high-dues, the list will be published in sub-registrar offices and newspapers. The campaign aims to recover more than Rs 2 crore revenue in the next month.
