The arrest came after a gruesome discovery by rubbish collectors at a dump on the island. Human body parts found at the scene were identified through DNA testing as belonging to the victim, Edwin Arrieta Arteaga, 44, a Colombian national. According to reports, Arteaga and the Spanish suspect were involved in a relationship for about a year.
Provincial Police Region 8 commissioner, Pol Lt Gen Surapong Thanomjit, stated that the suspect confessed to killing and dismembering the victim, but investigators are skeptical of his account. Authorities have learned that the two men’s relationship had turned sour and believe that money and property may have been factors in the crime. Furthermore, Arteaga was specifically invited by Bronchalo to visit the island for the Full Moon party.
The Spanish suspect claims that the fatal incident occurred when Arteaga came to his hotel room and requested sexual favors. Allegedly, Bronchalo became angry and struck Arteaga, causing him to fall and fatally hit his head against the bathtub. However, law enforcement doubts the credibility of this statement.
Police authorities have conducted a thorough investigation, questioning the suspect and gathering evidence in the case. However, the search for the remaining body parts, which were allegedly disposed of in the sea, is still ongoing.
Daniel Sancho Bronchalo, the son of Spanish actor Rodolfo Sancho Aguirre and actress Silvia Bronchalo, is said to have been relaxed despite admitting to the murder and dismemberment of Arteaga.
Meanwhile, the Spanish actor was left shocked upon learning about his son’s involvement in this heinous crime. He has decided to travel to Thailand to meet his son in person.
