Southampton Football Club has officially revealed its new manager, Russell Martin, more than three months after Nathan Jones was sacked. The 37-year-old former Swansea boss has signed a three-year contract and will take up his role immediately, replacing Ruben Selles, who acted as a caretaker boss. Martin won accolades as the manager of Swansea, earning the team a tenth-place finish in the Championship last season. Known for his brave and possession-based play style, Martin plans to get Southampton back into the Premier League. Wilcox, Director of Football, believes that Martin is an excellent fit to help nurture the talented young players in the team and achieve the club’s goals. Saints’ 11-year tenure in the Premier League ended last season with a dismal 25 points, and Martin will attempt to lead the team back to its former glory.
