South32, the Australian metals producer, has announced upgrades to its Taylor zinc-lead deposit and advancements in its Clark manganese project in Arizona. Both projects are part of the company’s Hermosa project in the US. South32 has started pilot-scale production at its Clark deposit, aiming to generate high-purity manganese sulphate monohydrate for the North American market. The company plans to produce up to 185,000 tonnes per year of this product. Meanwhile, the mineral resource estimate at the Taylor deposit has been upgraded to 153 million tonnes, with significant percentages of zinc, lead, and silver. The Taylor project is expected to consist of an underground mine and ore processing operation. A feasibility study for the deposit is anticipated to be completed by the end of the year.
