HUNTINGTON, W.Va (AP) — Isiah Gaiter delivered an exceptional performance, scoring 25 points to guide South Alabama to a 91-85 victory over Marshall on Saturday night.
In addition to his impressive point total, Gaiter also showcased his versatility by grabbing seven rebounds for the Jaguars (9-8, 2-3 Sun Belt Conference). Tyrell Jones contributed 23 points, shooting 7 of 13 from the field, including 4 for 7 from beyond the arc, and hitting 5 of 9 free throws. Samuel Tabe had an efficient outing, going 7 of 14 from the field and a perfect 4 for 4 from the free-throw line to finish with 18 points.
Obinna Anochili-Killen led the offensive charge for the Thundering Herd (9-9, 4-1) with 26 points and filled the stat sheet with six rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Cam Crawford also made a significant impact, contributing 23 points to Marshall’s efforts. Additionally, Kamdyn Curfman added 17 points to the team’s total.
Looking ahead, both teams have important matchups on Thursday. South Alabama will host Troy, while Marshall will travel to play Old Dominion.
