BJP co-incharge in Jammu and Kashmir, Ashish Sood, has responded to former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s recent comments about the lack of development in Jammu and Kashmir following the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019 by the Narendra Modi-led government. Sood stated that It is true that no development has taken place for the Abdullah, Mufti, and Nehru-Gandhi families who ruled the state for over six decades. He further criticized the former Chief Minister, saying that he should come out of his protected residence to witness the positive changes made by the current government in the region.

Sood pointed out that two AIIMS, an IIT, an IIM, and other prestigious institutions had been established, and various infrastructure projects, including strategic tunnels, highways, and a biotech park, have been developed in Jammu and Kashmir. He also highlighted that six medical colleges and over 8 lakh Ayushman cards have been issued to people in the region, providing healthcare benefits to the citizens.

Sood further criticized the dynastic parties for their lack of visibility in the development of the region and stated that the common people of Jammu and Kashmir are fully satisfied with the progress made by the BJP-led government. Despite the opposition’s scepticism about the development, Sood has reaffirmed the steady progress made in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370.
