Smithfield Man Dies in Head-On Collision on Amelia Church Road: Investigation Underway
A tragic accident occurred near Clayton, resulting in the death of a Smithfield man in a head-on collision. Lance Cook, 36, was traveling northbound on Amelia Church Road in his Nissan Altima when he crossed the center line and collided head-on with a Ford Edge, driven by Faustino-Arbey Escobar Lopez, 38, of Dunn. The collision took place on Saturday at 9:00 am, near NC Highway 42.
Sadly, Cook succumbed to his injuries and passed away. On the other hand, Lopez sustained injuries but survived the crash. Fortunately, there were no passengers in either vehicle at the time.
