Sinner and De Minaur Dominate to Reach the ATP Toronto Masters Final

Jannik Sinner and Alex de Minaur showcased their dominant form on Saturday as they secured straight-set victories to book their spots in the final of the ATP Toronto Masters.

Sinner, who was the runner-up in Miami last spring, reached his second elite-level final of the season with a 6-4, 6-4 win over American Tommy Paul. Meanwhile, de Minaur became the first Australian player to reach the Canadian final since 2001 with a convincing 6-1, 6-3 victory over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

The last Australian to make it to the title match in Toronto was Patrick Rafter, who lifted the trophy in 1998. De Minaur continued his impressive hardcourt form from the previous weekend in Los Cabos, where he finished as the runner-up to Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Sinner faced a tough battle in his fourth career Masters semi-final, but he managed to claim the first set in 53 minutes. In the second set, he took a commanding 5-2 lead after winning an incredible 46-shot rally. Although Sinner was broken while serving for victory, he regained his composure to secure the win on his third match point.

This was a fight, he was playing great, said Sinner after the match. This is what I play for – the big matches. I know the feeling of a Masters 1000 final. Hopefully I can show my best tennis tomorrow. I’m happy with how I reacted to situations on the court. I’m happy to be in the final again. The pressure is something great, it’s positive.

Sinner holds a perfect 4-0 record against de Minaur in their previous meetings. The Italian will be aiming for his first Masters title, while world number 18 de Minaur will be gunning for his eighth career trophy and second of the season following his victory in the windy semi-final against Davidovich Fokina.

Reflecting on the tough conditions, de Minaur shared, It was a very tough day, tricky conditions for playing tennis with all of the wind. From the first point, I told myself to stay positive and not expect perfect tennis.

As the two young talents prepare for the final, tennis fans are eagerly anticipating an enthralling showdown between Sinner’s power and de Minaur’s relentless attitude on the court. With both players in peak form, the final promises to be an exhilarating contest that showcases the best of men’s tennis.

Stay tuned for the exhilarating final of the ATP Toronto Masters and witness the crowning of a new champion in one of the season’s most prestigious tournaments.
