Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and state Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar, along with all the ministers in the government, are set to meet Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on June 21 in Delhi to discuss the implementation of five guarantees and promises made by the party in its manifesto during assembly elections. The ministers have been requesting a meeting with Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, but timing conflicts made it difficult to schedule. Consequently, the meeting will be for all the ministers to meet at the same time. Sources suggest that Rahul Gandhi may be present at the meeting. After the assembly elections, the Congress ousted the BJP from power after winning 135 seats in the state’s 224-member assembly, including 66 constituencies, while the Janata Dal (Secular) only won 19 seats. Siddaramaiah recently announced that the Congress will implement all five guarantees in the current financial year, with an annual cost of approximately Rs 50,000 crore. The guarantees include 200 units of free electricity to all households, Rs 2,000 monthly assistance to the woman head of every family, 10 kg of rice free for every member of a BPL household, Rs 3,000 every month for unemployed graduate youth, Rs 1,500 for unemployed diploma holders for two years, and free travel for women in public transport buses.
