Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, D.K. Shivakumar, has urged officials in Bengaluru to focus on improving infrastructure and resolving city issues. At a meeting with MLAs and MLCs, Shivakumar called for collaboration across party lines to provide adequate civic amenities and benefit the city. In recent years, Bengaluru has struggled with broken roads and flooded streets during the monsoon season, raising doubts about the area’s preparedness.Giving importance to the city and its people, Shivakumar asked civic authorities to submit reports on drinking water supply in each region, checking whether every area was being supplied water proportionally. He also ordered the suspension of the officers and engineers responsible for planning and implementing the road construction project between Hoskerehalli lake because it was facilitating the apartment owners”. The project was dropped after the BBMP cleared the debris and construction material dumped on the lake site, following strong criticism. Shivakumar emphasized Bengaluru’s economic contribution, stating that it pays a significant amount in various taxes, including GST, and called for increased collaboration to build the state.
