Shivakumar Calls for Tamil Nadu to Cooperate on Mekedatu Project

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has urged Tamil Nadu to be cooperative in implementing the Mekedatu project for the benefit of farmers in both states. Shivakumar explained that there will be no harm to Tamil Nadu if the project is implemented and that both states should stop approaching courts and cooperate for the scheme, which is meant for drinking water purposes. He also emphasized that after storing the water, it could be used for drinking and there is no concern for Tamil Nadu. On the other hand, Tamil Nadu water resources minister Durai Murugan has affirmed that his government will oppose the dam proposal at all levels.
