Sharsheret, a national organization dedicated to supporting women, men, and families affected by breast or ovarian cancer, will be hosting its annual tristate benefit on Thursday, July 20th. The event, which will take place at Congregation Ahavath Torah in Englewood, aims to raise critical funds for counseling, education, and financial assistance for those impacted by cancer or at a high genetic risk.
The evening will feature a barbecue dinner, a siyum service, and a program designed to honor remarkable individuals who have shown extraordinary strength and resilience in their battle against cancer. Elana Silber, CEO of Sharsheret, expressed her appreciation for these inspiring efforts, stating that they bring hope to others facing similar challenges.
The event will also pay tribute to Linda Pulitzer on her 15th yahrzeit. Linda’s daughter, Jordanna Nadritch, who serves as the vice president of Sharsheret, will be recognized for her unwavering dedication to the organization. In addition to being an attorney, Nadritch works as a peer supporter for Sharsheret and has been instrumental in developing the Power Pals Pre-Mastectomy Program. She has also cochaired the annual benefit, participated in Team Sharsheret’s runs, and serves on the board of directors.
Furthermore, the Maimonides Award will be presented to Dr. Mark Sultan, a renowned clinical professor of surgery at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Dr. Sultan specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face and breast, making him a valued expert in his field.
Ben Strulowitz, a founding member of the Sharsheret Young Professionals Circle, will receive the Next Gen Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions. Strulowitz first became involved with Sharsheret in 2013 as a senior at New York University when he joined Team Sharsheret for the New York City Triathlon. Since then, he has organized the first Young Professionals Networking event, mobilized corporate groups to prepare holiday care packages for Sharsheret, and raised awareness about health among high school students.
The service during the event will be led by Becky and Daniel Wolf, longstanding supporters of Sharsheret and part of the Sharsheret Jewel family.
The annual tristate benefit has garnered the support of many organizations and individuals who understand the importance of Sharsheret’s mission. Barbara and Fred Kort Foundation will be the event’s presenting sponsor, with Daiichi-Sankyo, Kings Pharmacy, and Merck serving as benefactors. Pfizer Oncology will participate as a champion sponsor, while Immunogen, Maidenbaum, and Neuberger Berman will be recognized as ambassador sponsors.
