NCP president Sharad Pawar has called out Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his remarks regarding corruption by opposition leaders. The PM had launched a scathing attack on opposition leaders, including current and former CMs, at a program in Bhopal. In response, Pawar questioned the propriety of Modi’s tirade, stating that he should reconsider whether it was appropriate to speak about chief ministers in such a manner.
During the program, Modi recounted allegations of corruption against the governments of the opposition parties which gathered in Patna to forge a united front against the BJP. Pawar, while speaking to reporters, expressed his sarcasm towards the PM by stating that he has set a new example of how to talk about people in the country.
The NCP president’s comments come amidst growing tensions between the BJP-led government and opposition parties over various issues, including the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, rising fuel prices, and alleged corruption cases.
The BJP has been constantly targeting opposition parties, accusing them of corruption and non-performance. Recently, the party had launched a campaign called ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ to gain the support of the people ahead of the assembly elections in various states.
Pawar’s criticism of the PM’s remarks shows the changing political landscape in the country, where opposition parties are coming together to form a united front against the BJP. With state elections approaching, it remains to be seen how these political developments will impact the poll results and shape the future of democracy in India.
It is crucial for political leaders to maintain civility in their speeches and avoid personal attacks, especially on public platforms. Political discourse should focus on issues rather than individuals, and leaders should strive to uphold the dignity of public office at all times.
