Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP Supriya Sule has been appointed as the new chairperson of the party’s central election authority by party chief Sharad Pawar. Sule, who was already made a working president of the party, will oversee the decision-making process on candidates for upcoming polls. Pawar also named Praful Patel as a working president, marking a generational shift in NCP and sidelining nephew Ajit Pawar. Along with her new role, Sule will also be in charge of Maharashtra, Haryana, and Punjab, as well as the party’s women, youth and students wings. The assigning of new roles to Sule and Patel comes after Sharad Pawar revoked his resignation after three days in response to emotional party workers who quit en masse. Sule called for collective efforts to strengthen NCP and serve the nation for the betterment of fellow citizens.
