West Indies captain Shai Hope accepted India’s dominance as his team fell to a heavy defeat in the first One Day International (ODI) held in Barbados. Despite acknowledging the difficult pitch conditions, Hope refused to make any excuses for his team’s poor batting performance against the Indian bowlers.

Hope admitted that the West Indies batters failed to play the way they needed to on the challenging pitch. While he didn’t provide any excuses, he mentioned that anyone watching the game could see the challenges the batsmen faced. He also praised young talent Jayden Seales, describing him as a quality player who the team can invest in.

In the first ODI, India secured a convincing five-wicket victory over the West Indies. Spinner Kuldeep Yadav’s four-wicket haul and Ishan Kishan’s half-century were the standout performances of the match.

Chasing a target of 115 runs, India got off to a decent start with Kishan promoted up the order to open with Shubman Gill. Gill, however, struggled yet again and was dismissed for seven runs. Skipper Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja guided India to victory, with Rohit remaining unbeaten on 12 and Jadeja on 16.

Earlier in the match, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja’s impressive performances with the ball helped India restrict the West Indies to a mere 114 runs in 23 overs.

Overall, India displayed their dominance in the first ODI, while the West Indies faced immense difficulties in their batting. Hope’s acknowledgment of India’s superior performance and refusal to offer excuses showed his determination to improve and bounce back in the subsequent matches.
