In a heartbreaking incident that occurred on Thursday night, a train accident in Odisha has led to the loss of 7 lives from Bihar, while six persons are still missing. The accident caused a total of 288 casualties, with 36 people suffering from severe injuries.
Madhubani district recorded the highest number of deaths, with three fatalities, while two were reported from Jamui district, and one each from Nawada and East Champaran district. The injured were predominantly from East Champaran, Madhubani, Nawada, Begusarai, and Jamui.
Six persons from Madhubani, one from Jamui, two from West Champaran, and one from Bihar Sharif are reportedly missing, as per the latest updates. The family members of the injured and missing have rushed to Balasore, where the incident occurred.
The Bihar government has sent a team of senior officers to provide aid to the injured, locate the missing persons, and bring back the deceased to their families. The team is also facilitating alternate modes of transport to ensure the safe return of the injured individuals to their homes.
To bring back stranded individuals to their homes, the government has arranged buses for 24 people from Araria, two from Kishanganj, nine from Darbhanga, three from Samastipur, and two from Sitamarhi districts.
