A shocking incident occurred on March 25th when a recently released prisoner brutally stabbed Senator Rand Paul’s staffer, Phillip Todd, on a Washington D.C. sidewalk. New footage of the horrifying attack has been released, showing the moment Todd was pushed to the ground and stabbed multiple times in broad daylight. The assailant, identified as Glynn Neal, had just been released from prison before carrying out the vicious assault.

The video captures the chilling scene as Todd tries to defend himself while being stabbed by Neal. Todd’s legs can be seen waving in the air as the attack unfolds, and someone nearby shouts in disbelief. Another person intervenes, jumping on the hooded attacker, allowing Todd to break free. In a moment of desperation, Todd briefly attempts to retaliate by attacking Neal before fleeing the scene.

According to police reports, there were no exchanges of words between Todd and his attacker before Neal inflicted deep knife wounds to Todd’s head. The attack left Todd with a fractured skull, a punctured lung, and multiple life-threatening injuries. Detectives found a bloody weapon at the scene, further solidifying the evidence against Neal.

Records indicate that Neal had spent nearly 12 years behind bars before being released one day prior to the attack. He had been convicted of compelling two women to engage in prostitution through the use of threats, facing a first-degree sex charge. The motive behind the stabbing remains unclear.

Upon learning of the incident, Senator Rand Paul released a statement asking for prayers for Todd’s speedy and complete recovery. He expressed gratitude towards the first responders, hospital staff, and police for their prompt actions.

Todd was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he underwent treatment for his life-threatening injuries. He underwent trauma surgery to address the wounds in his body and is expected to make a full recovery due to his young age and good health. Despite suffering a fracture on his skull, Todd’s condition is stable, and his family draws strength from their faith during this challenging time.

This disturbing incident marks the second attack involving a member of Congress or a congressional staffer this year. Earlier in the year, Representative Angie Craig was punched in the face and subjected to an attempted strangulation inside an elevator at her apartment building. Craig managed to defend herself by throwing hot coffee at her assailant, causing him to flee. While she did sustain bruising, the congresswoman was otherwise unhurt.

As investigations into both attacks continue, authorities are working to ensure justice is served for the victims. In the meantime, the incidents serve as sobering reminders of the dangers faced by public officials and their staff members. The need for increased security measures has become even more pressing to ensure the safety of those who serve the community.
