Security Enhanced in Thane After Bomb Threat to Synagogue; No Explosives Found
Security has been heightened in Thane, Maharashtra, after a synagogue received a bomb threat. The Naupada police station area has been stepped up with additional security measures to ensure the safety of the synagogue and its worshippers. The threat prompted the deployment of a Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), along with the evacuation of the synagogue, nearby buildings, and shops. However, thorough investigations revealed no suspicious or explosive items on the premises.
Thane Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ganesh Gawde stated, Naupada police received information regarding a threat email directed at the synagogue. Police officials and staff promptly responded, evacuating the synagogue, nearby buildings, and shops, and diverting traffic. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) arrived to conduct an inquiry, confirming the absence of any explosives.
To further reassure the public, Gawde added, We have implemented extra security arrangements in the area to ensure the safety of the synagogue and prevent any untoward incidents.
In a separate incident on Wednesday, the Jaipur airport authority received a similar threat via email, threatening to blow up not only the Jaipur airport but also other airports. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and other security officials were immediately alerted, prompting a thorough search operation at the airport.
