Scotland triumphed in an extraordinary last-ball thriller against Ireland, thanks to a match-winning performance from Michael Leask in their World Cup Super League match in Zimbabwe. The Scottish team kept their cool under pressure after being reduced to 152 for 7 chasing 287, and completed one of the greatest comeback victories in ODI history.
Leask remained unbeaten after scoring 91 off 61 balls, hitting the winning runs with the final ball of the match. The hero of the Scottish team scored a boundary off the first ball of the final over, helping his team to set themselves on their way. After a mix of luck and skill, thick inside edges and misfields, Leask finally came to the crease with two runs needed off the last ball to steer Scotland to victory.
Earlier, Ireland had to recover from a disastrous start in their innings, having slumped to 70-5. Curtis Campher hit a century, and his partner George Dockrell played a valuable supporting role, as they put together a 136-run partnership for the sixth wicket and recovered with a total of 286/8.
However, it was not enough to stop the heroic Leask, who played the innings of his life to guide Scotland to victory. The Scots overhauled the target in just one wicket remaining.
In the other match of the day, Oman maintained their impressive start to the tournament by coasting to a comfortable win over UAE. After deciding to bowl first, Oman restricted UAE to a low total of 227/8. In reply, Oman reached their target with ease, guided by fifties from Aqib Ilyas, Shoaib Khan, and Mohammad Nadeem, winning by five wickets with four overs to spare.
With this win, Oman held on to their winning streak and secured their second victory in the ongoing World Cup Super League campaign.
