The Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) has launched a funding program to empower women’s football clubs in the country. The initiative aims to support the growth and sustainability of women’s football leagues and promote female participation in the sport. To be eligible for funding, clubs must have a SAFF membership, Nafes license, and meet organizational and technical requirements. SAFF will allocate $13 million to support women’s football programs across the country, including club governance and sustainability, expansion of competitions and teams, creating job opportunities, and nurturing athletes to represent national teams. This initiative marks another monumental step for SAFF in developing and sustaining a thriving women’s football presence in the Kingdom to inspire young girls that a career in football is feasible for them. With a 30% growth in women’s football clubs and players across Saudi Arabia, this funding program will create opportunities for more women to pursue their passion for football and represent their country on a global level.
