Saudi Arabia has warned that it may put Bangladesh’s hajj office in the Kingdom on the ‘red list’ if it fails to complete the visa processing of at least 80 percent of the pilgrims by today. Bangladesh hajj office will be responsible for any consequences if it does not meet the targets. The warning came after the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah informed its decision on June 5 and urged the Bangladesh Hajj Office to take immediate action. The International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia said in a letter that it wanted to complete 80 percent of visa issuance to pilgrims by June 7. If the country failed to do so, Saudi Arabia may take further action. Bangladesh is in danger of being red-listed by Saudi Arabia, as visa issuance rates for hajj pilgrims stands at 78 percent as of June 6.
