Saudi Arabia has brought women to the forefront of this year’s Hajj pilgrimage, with more female volunteers and professionals in various sectors. This is in line with the country’s Vision 2030 economic program, which aims to provide more opportunities for women in the workforce. Hajj terminal employee Reham Al Harbi and volunteer Bayan Hamadi are two Saudi women who are taking part in this year’s Hajj pilgrimage. The increasing number of pilgrims has made the job feel different, but the women are eager to prove themselves and overcome challenges. Princess Sama bint Faisal bin Abdullah, chairwoman of the Saudi Girl Scout Committee, praised the passion and enthusiasm of female volunteers, citing the increasing number of Saudi female volunteers this year. Saudi health authorities have provided various services to pilgrims, including free medical treatment and operations at King Abdullah Medical City. The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has also opened up opportunities for Saudis and residents to work during Hajj.
