Rajasthan Royals wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson is reportedly set to make his comeback during India’s tour of West Indies. The RR skipper missed the T20Is against Sri Lanka and New Zealand but is expected to be included in the ODI and T20I squads for the Caribbean tour. Samson has always been in and out of the side, without getting a consistent run, but this time, he is likely to get enough chances in the absence of some senior players in the team.

Samson last played a T20I against Sri Lanka but suffered a hamstring injury. He played IPL but failed to make a significant impact with the bat, scoring only 360 runs in 13 innings. Against West Indies, the wicketkeeper-batsman will be hoping to make the most of his chances.

With Rishabh Pant ruled out of the team due to injury until the ODI World Cup, Samson along with Ishan Kishan is set to get enough chances. Not only in T20Is, but Samson is likely to be in the scheme of things for the ODI squad as well. With KL Rahul injured, Samson may play in the 50-over format as a wicketkeeper-batsman.

With Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Mohammed Shami, and Siraj rested and injured, Samson is likely to be given a longer rope in the ODIs and T20 team.

In ODIs, the RR skipper has played 11 matches and scored 330 runs, while in T20Is, he has played 17 matches and scored 301 runs. The squad for India’s tour of West Indies will be announced soon. In the Test team, the likes of Virat Kohli, Shami, and Rohit Sharma are likely to play in the white-ball series, Hardik Pandya is expected to lead the team.

India’s tour of West Indies will start on July 12 with the first Test match at Windsor Park, Dominica. The second Test Match will take place on July 20-24 at Queen’s Park Oval, Trinidad. The three-match ODI series will begin with the first match on August 1 at Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Trinidad. The T20I series will begin with the first match on August 3 at Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Trinidad, and the fourth and fifth T20Is will take place on August 12 and 13 at Broward County Stadium, Lauderhill, Florida.

Samson’s consistent performance in the domestic season has earned him the chance to prove his worth in the international arena. This time he will be determined to make the most of the opportunities coming his way, hoping to cement his place in the team.
