Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], December 2 (ANI): Sanjeev Gupta, the Chief Executive Officer of Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM), has called for a Beyond Bengaluru Mission to drive entrepreneurship and development beyond the city limits. Gupta emphasized the need to create connections between clusters such as Mysuru, Belgaum, Hubballi-Dharwad, Mangaluru, and Tumkur in order to extend entrepreneurial opportunities.

Speaking at the Bengaluru Technology Summit-2023 during a session titled Finding Boundary Hitters: Beyond Bengaluru, Gupta highlighted the importance of going beyond the confines of Bengaluru and striving for greater achievements. He stressed the creation of a dedicated mission to realize this vision.

The Karnataka Digital Economy Mission, led by local industry champions in various clusters, is part of the state government’s initiative called Beyond Bengaluru. Emphasizing the need to develop unique products in different clusters, Gupta revealed that the mission has already assisted 47 companies in setting up their operations over the past two years.

During the session, the entrepreneurial spirit of young minds was showcased when students from a government high school in Belgaum district presented their innovation—a Light Writer Pen. Faced with a lack of power in their village, these students invented a pen equipped with a torch-like function. Once charged for 30 minutes, the pen can provide 10 hours of light, enabling the students to study in the dark.

The student entrepreneurs expressed their aspirations for mentorship, technological support, funding, and market reach to further develop their businesses and create more innovative solutions.

Kiriti Kapavari, an entrepreneur, emphasized the need to expose students from smaller towns to elevate their ideas and foster innovation. Ananya Mungara, founder of Smart Chakra, added that Tier II cities are already witnessing the potential of outside-in perspective when it comes to problem-solving capabilities, which presents significant business opportunities.

Jitendra P. Nayak, a member of TiE Hubballi, stressed the importance of providing equal treatment and facilities to people in smaller towns, stating that building businesses locally is best achieved through local support.

The session was moderated by Suresh Narasimhan, Managing Partner at CoCreate Ventures.

In summary, the CEO of the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission has urged for the establishment of a Beyond Bengaluru Mission to drive entrepreneurship and development beyond the boundaries of Bengaluru. By connecting different clusters, such as Mysuru, Belgaum, Hubballi-Dharwad, Mangaluru, and Tumkur, the aim is to extend opportunities and nurture innovation. The session at the Bengaluru Technology Summit-2023 highlighted the importance of empowering students from smaller towns and leveraging their problem-solving capabilities to unlock business potential.
