San Jose Summer Jazz Fest Brings Diverse Music and Thousands to Downtown Hotels
The 33rd annual San Jose Summer Jazz Fest is currently taking place in downtown San Jose, bringing together music enthusiasts from all over the country, state, and Bay Area. Not only is the festival showcasing a wide array of musical genres beyond jazz, but it is also boosting hotel occupancy in the area, making it the busiest weekend for downtown hotels.
The curator of Latin music for the event, Betto Arcos, emphasizes that the festival is not solely centered around jazz. For Oakland resident Gloria Anthony Oliver, attending the San Jose Summer Jazz Fest has become a tradition. She even reconnected with her college roommate, whom she hadn’t seen in 40 years, during one of the festival’s previous editions.
This year, the festival has dedicated an entire stage to celebrate the 50th anniversary of hip-hop. Hip-hop lovers like Richmond resident Tari Tribble appreciate the genre’s ability to blend different styles and share unique stories. The inclusion of hip-hop in the festival’s lineup highlights its commitment to diversity and catering to a wide range of musical preferences.
The San Jose Summer Jazz Fest is expected to draw around 30,000 to 40,000 attendees over the course of its three-day run. It not only offers an opportunity to enjoy exceptional music but also fosters a sense of unity and celebration within the San Jose community.
