Samsung Electronics Co. has announced a partnership with U.S. AI solutions firm Groq to supply next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductors. Groq, based in California, has contracted with Samsung Foundry to solidify its product roadmap with a U.S.-based foundry services provider. The new chips will be designed in collaboration with Samsung’s Foundry Design Service team and manufactured on Samsung’s advanced 4nm FinFET platform technology. It is expected that the chips will be produced at Samsung’s new chip factory in Austin, Texas, by 2025. This partnership marks a significant step in Samsung’s commitment to advancing semiconductor technology and bringing innovative AI solutions to the market.

Groq, founded in 2016 by former Google executive Jonathan Ross, specializes in designing and producing chipsets for deep learning applications. The collaboration with Samsung will strengthen Groq’s already completely North American-based operations and help maintain high product availability and short lead times. Furthermore, this announcement is notable as it is the first time a client of Samsung’s Taylor factory has been officially revealed.

Kyung Kye-hyun, co-CEO at Samsung and head of the company’s chip business, shared last month that the Taylor factory is set to begin shipping out 4nm chips by the end of next year. The establishment of Samsung’s new chip fabrication plant in Taylor, Texas, signals the company’s commitment to meeting the demands of its major U.S. customers who desire locally produced products.

Samsung’s partnership with Groq highlights the company’s dedication to advancing AI technology and its ability to leverage its advanced silicon manufacturing capabilities. By working closely with Groq, Samsung aims to deliver groundbreaking AI solutions, high-performance computing, and data center solutions to the market.

This collaboration comes at a time when AI technology is rapidly evolving, with increased demand for advanced semiconductors that support sophisticated AI applications. Samsung, as the world’s largest memory chipmaker, is well-positioned to meet this demand and contribute to the growth and development of the AI industry.

With Samsung’s expertise in semiconductor manufacturing and Groq’s specialization in AI chip design, this partnership promises to deliver cutting-edge solutions that will drive innovation in various industries. By leveraging Samsung’s state-of-the-art chip fabrication capabilities and Groq’s deep learning expertise, the two companies are poised to revolutionize the AI landscape.

As the global market for AI continues to expand, collaborations such as this will play a vital role in fueling advancements in AI technology. Samsung’s commitment to advancing semiconductor technology and its partnership with Groq are steps towards shaping the future of AI and bringing transformative solutions to industries worldwide.
