The Samajwadi Party (SP) has instructed its workers to keep a vigilant eye on the voters’ list and prevent any attempts to add fake names or remove genuine ones. The party leaders in each district have been given instructions on how to identify anomalies and rectify them with expert assistance from the party headquarters.
SP’s president Akhilesh Yadav and national secretary Shivpal Yadav have enlightened the district leaders on various ways by which names can be dropped from the voters’ list or added fraudulently. They have also provided a blueprint to the leaders on how to keep a systematic record of communicative exchanges between the booth-level and election officers.
The SP has been closely following the voters’ list for the upcoming Assembly polls in 2022 and the by-polls thereafter, alarmed by the reports of irregularities. The party had submitted written complaints with the Election Commission, as well as state and district level election officers, about the mass irregularities in the voters’ list. During the party’s convention in Kolkata, the SP chief had decided to constitute a committee in every district led by senior members to monitor the preparation of voters’ lists to prevent last-minute hurdles.
In conclusion, the SP’s efforts to maintain a fair and clean voters’ list with the help of its party workers are commendable. With their attention to detail, the party will ensure transparent and democratic practices in future elections.
