Actor Salman Khan expressed his sorrow over the triple train accident in Odisha’s Balasore district that killed 238 individuals and injured over 900 people. The Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, the Coromandel Express, and a goods train collided at Bahanaga Bazar Station, Balasore district. The accident caused severe damage to 17 coaches of these two trains, with around 650 injured passengers taken to the hospitals of Gopalpur, Khantapara, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Soro. The Prime Minister’s Office released a statement announcing an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of the dead from Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF). Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw supervised the rescue operation and ordered a detailed high-level investigation into the incident. The rail safety commissioner will also conduct an independent inquiry.
Salman Khan took to Twitter to express his condolences and wrote, Really saddened to hear abt the accident, May God rest the souls of the deceased in peace, Protect n give strength to the families n the injured from this unfortunate accident. The Indian railway system plays a crucial role in the country’s transport infrastructure, and accidents such as these remind the government and the rail authorities that there is much work to be done when it comes to rail safety in India. The railway system should prioritize the health and safety of its passengers and work towards preventing such accidents from occurring in the future.
