Salesforce Launches Einstein Studio for Custom AI Models on Data Cloud

Salesforce, a leading CRM provider, has announced the launch of Einstein Studio, a new offering that allows enterprises to connect and train their own AI models on proprietary data within Salesforce’s platform. This move is aimed at streamlining the AI project lifecycle, making it easier and more efficient for data science and engineering teams to manage and deploy models.

With Einstein Studio, companies can create and implement custom AI models more quickly than before. These models can then be used across various applications within Salesforce, such as sales, service, marketing, commerce, and IT. By harnessing their own data, organizations can power predictive and generative AI to enhance different parts of their business.

The deployment of enterprise-ready AI models has traditionally been a time-consuming and resource-intensive process. Companies have to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data to prepare it for AI platforms, train the models, and manage the entire lifecycle of the project. This has resulted in delays in deploying AI solutions. In fact, a KPMG survey found that nearly 60% of U.S. executives believe they are still a year or two away from implementing AI solutions.

With Einstein Studio, Salesforce aims to address this challenge by making the process of deploying AI faster and more efficient. The offering allows users to connect custom AI models built with external services, like Google Vertex AI and AWS SageMaker, and train them on data hosted within the Salesforce Data Cloud to meet specific business needs.

Salesforce Data Cloud allows for the consolidation of data points from various sources to create unified customer profiles that adapt to each customer’s activity in real time. Einstein Studio’s pre-built integration leverages this data for model training, eliminating the need for extensive data preparation. Users simply have to select relevant data assets within the data platform.

The bring-your-own-model (BYOM) solution offered by Einstein Studio also provides a control panel for managing the use of AI models during training. This gives data scientists and engineers the ability to govern how their data is exposed to AI platforms, ensuring data privacy and security.

Once a model is trained using Data Cloud, it can be integrated into Salesforce experiences, including Data Cloud, Flow, and Apex, and power various company applications. For example, a propensity-to-buy model built using AWS SageMaker and registered in Einstein Studio could inform whether a product discount email should be sent to a customer through a Flow automation.

The flexibility to utilize these models in external applications is also available to customers and independent software vendors. This means that retailers, for instance, can use trained models to recommend products based on customer interests and behaviors, personalize pricing, or segment customers into different groups based on demographics or purchase history.

Salesforce’s Einstein Studio has already undergone testing by multiple enterprises as part of a pilot program and is now generally available for all Salesforce Data Cloud users. By enabling organizations to leverage their investment in the latest AI platforms, Salesforce aims to democratize AI and customer data utilization.

In the future, Salesforce plans to expand the range of services that can be connected to Einstein Studio. However, the current offering already provides a comprehensive and efficient solution for companies looking to deploy custom AI models within Salesforce.
