SAD Leader Takes Dig at Punjab CM over Letter to Governor on Sikh Gurdwaras (Amendment) Bill
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader, Daljit S Cheema, criticized Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for his focus on writing letters to the Punjab Governor regarding unconstitutional bills passed in the state assembly. Cheema suggested that instead of wasting energy on these matters, Mann should address the conspiracy against Punjab to take away its capital city of Chandigarh.
In a tweet, Cheema stated, Instead of wasting energy and writing letters to the Governor of Punjab to get his signatures on the unconstitutional bills passed in Vidhan Sabha which were aimed at interfering in the religious affairs of Sikhs, the Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann should focus on the real conspiracy being hatched against Punjab to snatch its Capital city of Chandigarh from it.
Cheema further urged Mann to urgently protest against the decision of the Union Territory administration to allocate land to Haryana for the construction of a separate Vidhan Sabha in Chandigarh. According to Cheema, such decisions regarding changing the boundaries of Chandigarh and Haryana can only be made by the Parliament and not the Union Territory administration.
It should be noted that Bhagwant Mann had written to the Punjab Governor, Banwarilal Purohit, requesting early assent to the Sikh Gurdwaras (Amendment) Bill, 2023. The bill aims to ensure that the telecast of Gurbani from the Golden Temple is free.
Cheema emphasized that Chandigarh is an integral part of Punjab, as it was established as its capital city after displacing several Punjabi-speaking villages.
