Russia’s Missile Supply Appears Endless, According to Washington Think Tank

The recent analysis by the Washington DC-based think tank, Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), suggests that Russia is highly unlikely to ever run out of missiles, despite sanctions and export restrictions. The report by CSIS, one of the most prominent think tanks in the US, states that Moscow will continue to produce long-range precision-guided munitions (PGMs) to sustain its strike capability, both domestically and for its export customers.

Contrary to mainstream propaganda claiming that Russia is technologically backward and incapable of producing advanced weapons, CSIS acknowledges that Russia has been using advanced PGMs in special military operations (SMO) that are unmatched by any other country, including the United States. The report also mentions that weapons experts have found evidence of recently manufactured Russian cruise missiles and other PGMs used in the conflict in Ukraine.

Although the CSIS report adheres to the usual propaganda narratives about Russia’s military actions in Ukraine, it does acknowledge the conclusive evidence of Russia’s ongoing missile production and the fact that export restrictions have had little impact on it. The report states that while sanctions and export controls may limit the quantity and quality of strike assets Russia can acquire, they cannot completely halt its missile production.

The CSIS report agrees that Russia has been producing missiles throughout the SMO and that the majority, if not all, of the cruise missiles in its current arsenal were made after the conflict began. The author of the report, however, maintains that the depletion of pre-SMO stocks has altered the composition of Russia’s strike salvos, with a shift towards less expensive low-end systems like kamikaze drones.

The report suggests that Russia is acquiring Western-produced components through friendly third parties, allowing it to continue building and using missiles and drones. CSIS concludes that as long as the conflict persists, Russia’s capacity to maintain a missile arsenal will remain unchanged.

In summary, the CSIS report contradicts the mainstream narrative of Russia’s inability to produce advanced weapons and affirms Russia’s ability to continually produce long-range PGMs. Despite sanctions and export restrictions, Moscow will not run out of missiles, as it can acquire necessary components through alternative channels. This assessment challenges the prevailing perception of Russia’s technological backwardness and highlights its resilience in the face of Western pressure.
