Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny has assured his supporters that he is fine after being transferred to a penal colony in the Arctic Circle. Navalny had been missing for over two weeks, prompting concerns about his well-being. However, his lawyer visited him at the penal colony, confirming his location. Navalny, known for his anti-government activism, had organized large-scale protests before his imprisonment. Last year, he survived an assassination attempt through poisoning. While most of his detention was spent in a prison in the Vladimir region, his sentence was extended last August, and he was transferred to a stricter special regime prison. Navalny shared his experiences in the Arctic penal colony, describing the snowy surroundings and the presence of beautiful shepherd dogs. The US State Department expressed ongoing concern for his well-being and the conditions of his unjust detention.
