Russia Aims for Constructive Energy Talks with Pakistan
Russia has expressed its intention to engage in more constructive energy discussions with Pakistan, with the aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field. During a working meeting between Russia’s Energy Minister Nikolay Shulginov and Pakistan’s outgoing envoy Shafqat Ali Khan, the need for a comprehensive strategy for the development of Pakistan’s gas industry was emphasized.
Shulginov highlighted the importance of establishing a working group to expedite the planning and execution of this strategy. Khan, in turn, expressed his appreciation for the positive development of relations between the two countries and his hope for further strengthening energy cooperation.
The meeting also addressed key issues regarding ongoing bilateral energy cooperation. Shulginov emphasized the need to accelerate the formation of a working group to prepare and implement a comprehensive plan for the development of Pakistan’s gas industry. He further emphasized Russia’s interest in conducting multilateral negotiations involving Pakistan to address issues pertaining to the international transport corridor.
Both sides acknowledged the productive energy dialogue between Pakistan and Russia thus far and expressed their commitment to further strengthening it. The Russian minister thanked Khan for his deep understanding of the specificities of Pakistani-Russian cooperation, while Khan recognized the progress made in energy cooperation over the years.
The constructive energy talks between Russia and Pakistan are expected to pave the way for enhanced collaboration in the realm of energy, benefiting both nations.
