Rural Borough’s Playgrounds Get £500K Makeover, Oakmere Homes Contributes: Highfield Road & Highmoor Parks in Clitheroe
Two playgrounds in a rural borough have undergone a remarkable transformation as part of a £500,000 refurbishment scheme. The children’s recreation areas at Highfield Road and Highmoor parks in Clitheroe have been given a much-needed makeover, marking the first phase of an extensive project that will eventually cover all 18 playgrounds in the Ribble Valley Council area.
The refurbishment has brought in new play equipment and safety surfacing to both parks, catering to children aged two to 12. This significant upgrade has been made possible through the Ribble Valley Council’s capital budget and a generous contribution of £17,940 from Oakmere Homes, the developers behind the Chatburn Road project in Clitheroe.
Among the impressive additions to these play areas are baby cradle swings, junior swings, see-saws, and multi-play equipment, ensuring there is something for children of all ages. Highfield Road Park can be found in Clitheroe’s Littlemoor Ward, while Highmoor Park is located in the town’s Salthill Ward.
Ricky Newmark, chairman of Ribble Valley Council’s community services committee, expressed his delight about the launch of the play area refurbishment initiative at these two parks.
