YouTube video reveals drastic performance hit for Grand Theft Auto San Andreas RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod
A recent YouTube video posted by ‘MxBenchmarkPC’ has captured the attention of gamers and graphics enthusiasts alike. The video showcases the notorious game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas with an all-new RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod. However, it appears that the mod comes at a significant cost to performance.
In the video, the YouTuber not only demonstrates the RTX Remix Mod but also includes comparison scenes with a Performance Stats Overlay. The results are quite staggering, revealing that running the mod at 1440p with DLSS 3.5 Quality requires the hefty power of an NVIDIA RTX 4090.
To put things into perspective, without the RTX Remix Mod, GTA: San Andreas can achieve over 300 frames per second (fps) in open-world areas, even with a CPU limitation. However, when Path Tracing is enabled, the performance takes a massive hit. In an interior area, the fps dropped from an astounding 844 to a mere 48, despite using DLSS Quality at 1440p.
While the visuals of this latest version of the RTX Remix Mod for GTA: San Andreas are undeniably stunning, it seems that the performance sacrifices may outweigh the benefits. After all, we are talking about a game that was initially released back in 2004.
However, there is hope for optimization. The video does not showcase the potential performance increase that could come with DLSS 3.5 Frame Generation. It is possible that further refinements and optimizations will eventually mitigate the currently astronomical performance hit.
