Rowan Little League Makes a Dominant Debut in the Little League World Series
Rowan Little League has successfully embarked on their journey in the Little League World Series with a commanding performance in their debut game. Remi Hagerty led the way on the mound, pitching a remarkable two-hit shutout against the Central Region champions from Austintown, Ohio. Hagerty’s exceptional performance included eight strikeouts and zero walks, helping Rowan secure a convincing 5-0 victory.
The game remained scoreless for the first two innings, but Rowan seized control in the third inning with a single run, followed by another run in the fourth inning. Despite missing some opportunities to extend their lead, Rowan showcased their strength by scoring three additional runs in the sixth inning, creating a comfortable cushion.
Rowan’s offensive prowess was evident as they racked up ten hits during the game. CH Haines, LeNiyah Ratcliffe, Makynzie Melchor, and Tenley Shell each contributed two hits to support the team’s success. This year, a continuous batting order is being implemented, allowing all 12 players to be included in the lineup. Tenley Shell, the twelfth batter, delivered a crucial hit to contribute to the team’s victory.
Hagerty not only dominated on the mound but also made an impact with his bat, driving in two runs. Bristol Smith, CH Haines, and Tenley Shell also showcased their offensive prowess with one RBI each. Makynzie Melchor’s double was the only extra-base hit of the game.

Rowan’s next challenge awaits them on Monday afternoon as they face the Philippines, the champions of the Asia-Pacific Region, at 1 p.m. ET. In other Sunday matches, Puerto Rico defeated Canada with a score of 11-9, while Connecticut dominated Italy with a resounding 11-1 victory. Texas also secured a 6-1 win against Pitt County.
As the champions of the host region, Rowan is representing North Carolina in the series, while Pitt County competes as the Southeast Regional champions.
Monday’s schedule features exciting matchups, including Puerto Rico against Oregon at 10 a.m. ET, Northern California battling against Texas at 4 p.m. ET, and Connecticut facing New York at 7 p.m. ET.
