Rosoboronexport, the Russian state arms exporter, is expecting a surge in orders from African countries following the Russia-Africa Summit, according to Alexander Mikheev, the company’s director general. Currently, the share of African countries in Rosoboronexport’s order portfolio stands at almost 20%, a figure that is expected to grow as a result of the summit held in St. Petersburg.

Mikheev noted that the company’s order portfolio has remained stable at a high level in recent years, with minor fluctuations due to the dynamics of signed and executed contracts. After the first summit held in Sochi in 2019, Rosoboronexport signed over 150 contracts with African countries, resulting in a $10 billion increase in its order portfolio.

On average, Rosoboronexport’s order portfolio has been around $50 billion in recent years.

The anticipated surge in orders from African countries highlights the growing interest and demand for Russian defense equipment and technology in the continent. The Russia-Africa Summit serves as a platform for strengthening economic, political, and military ties between Russia and African nations.

Rosoboronexport’s participation in the summit is expected to further solidify its position as a leading arms exporter and strengthen its partnerships with African countries. The company has a reputation for providing high-quality defense products and services, making it a preferred choice for many nations.

The strategic cooperation between Russia and African nations extends beyond defense trade. It encompasses various sectors, including energy, agriculture, and infrastructure development. The Russia-Africa Summit offers an opportunity for both sides to explore new avenues of collaboration and mutually beneficial partnerships.

The involvement of Rosoboronexport in the summit demonstrates Russia’s commitment to deepening its engagement with African countries and contributing to their security and development.

With the share of African countries in Rosoboronexport’s order portfolio already close to 20%, the company is poised to witness significant growth in its business operations in the region. The summit will likely serve as a catalyst for further cooperation, leading to the signing of new contracts and the expansion of Russian presence in the African defense market.

The stability and consistent growth of Rosoboronexport’s order portfolio indicate the confidence and trust that African nations have in Russian defense products. This, coupled with Russia’s commitment to forging strong partnerships with African countries, bodes well for the future of defense cooperation between the two.

As the Russia-Africa Summit concludes, the spotlight now shifts to the implementation of signed contracts and the realization of the anticipated surge in orders. Rosoboronexport, with its extensive experience and expertise in the defense industry, is well-positioned to meet the growing demands of African nations and further strengthen Russia’s presence in the region.

Overall, the Russia-Africa Summit is set to solidify existing partnerships, foster new collaborations, and contribute to the mutual development and security of both Russia and African countries. With Rosoboronexport at the forefront, African nations can expect enhanced cooperation and access to cutting-edge defense technology, while Russia continues to expand its influence and footprint in the African continent.
