Ronda Rousey‘s Highly Anticipated Return to UFC 300 Ruled Out by Dana White
Rumors have been circulating this summer regarding the potential comeback of former bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey to the UFC. However, promotional president Dana White has put an end to the speculation, stating that there is no shot of Rousey making her return at UFC 300 next year.
Rousey, who became the first undisputed bantamweight champion in UFC history, has been absent from professional mixed martial arts competition since her headline bout at UFC 207 in December 2016. In that fight, she suffered a shockingly devastating TKO loss to former two-weight champion Amanda Nunes.
Prior to that defeat, Rousey faced Holly Holm in Australia, only to be knocked out by a powerful second-round high-kick from her opponent. This loss marked the first blemish on Rousey’s perfect 12-0 professional record.
Since Nunes announced her retirement in June, there has been speculation that Rousey might return to the Octagon, possibly in the newly established featherweight division. However, according to Dana White, Rousey has no plans to make a comeback at the monumental UFC 300 event.
During a media event after UFC 292, White made it clear that Rousey has accomplished all that she set out to achieve in her career. There’s no shot, he stated firmly. Her dream was to win a UFC championship, then win a WWE championship. And she’s done it. Now, she’s starting a family. Ronda has made so much money, and she’s still making a lot of money in sponsorships.
Before her back-to-back knockout losses, Rousey successfully defended her UFC bantamweight title against formidable opponents such as Liz Carmouche, Miesha Tate, Sara McMann, Alexis Davis, Cat Zingano, and Bethe Correia.
Rousey’s accomplishments in both the UFC and WWE have solidified her status as one of the most influential and recognizable figures in combat sports. With her sights now set on family life and other endeavors, the likelihood of a return to the Octagon seems highly unlikely.
Fans will always remember Ronda Rousey’s groundbreaking achievements and the impact she had on women’s MMA. Although her chapter in the UFC may have come to a close, her legacy continues to inspire future generations of fighters.
