Rolling Stones Set to Release First Album in 18 Years Following Charlie Watts’ Passing

Legendary rock band, The Rolling Stones, have recently announced that they will be releasing their first album of original music in 18 years. This marks a significant moment for the band, as it will be their first release since the passing of their drummer, Charlie Watts. Titled Hackney Diamonds, the album was officially unveiled at the Hackney Empire in London, where Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood, the remaining core members of the band, discussed the recording process.

Speaking at the London theater, Mick Jagger, the band’s frontman, expressed their excitement about recording new music, stating that they were pretty fired up throughout the process. He went on to describe the album as having a contemporary sound, featuring a mix of rock, ballads, dance, and a country-ish kind of thing. The album consists of 12 tracks and boasts an impressive lineup of collaborators, including former Stones bass player Bill Wyman, new drummer Steve Jordan, and music icons such as Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder.

Keith Richards, known for his long-standing song-writing partnership with Mick Jagger, revealed that the passing of Charlie Watts earlier this year motivated the band to continue making music. He emphasized the band’s desire to maintain their identity and remind everyone that they are still going strong. Richards stated, I think because of Charlie passing, we felt that we are still going and that we should still retain an identity and still say ‘Hey, it’s only rock and roll. But you know here we are.’

According to Ronnie Wood, Paul McCartney, who played bass on one track, was thrilled to record with the band. Wood expressed that McCartney was blown away by the experience, highlighting the significance of working with a musician who, like The Rolling Stones, had a profound impact on the rock music scene during the 1960s.

The album, produced by Andrew Watt, was recorded in various locations including London, Los Angeles, and Nassau. It draws its title, Hackney Diamonds, from the imagery of broken glass after a robbery. The release date for the album is set for October 20, and fans have eagerly awaited this announcement since a mysterious advertisement appeared in a local newspaper, hinting at the new album’s name and featuring references to some of The Rolling Stones’ greatest hits.

As the band members arrived at the Hackney Empire, they made a stylish entrance in a London taxi adorned with their iconic tongue and lips logo. Mick Jagger even paid the fare in cash, adding a touch of humor to the occasion. In an interview with US talk show host Jimmy Fallon, Jagger assured fans that the album was only released because the band genuinely loved it.

The Rolling Stones continue to make their mark on the music industry, showcasing their enduring talent even after several decades in the industry. Their upcoming album, Hackney Diamonds, promises to deliver a fresh blend of musical styles while paying tribute to the late Charlie Watts. Fans around the world eagerly await its release, excited to experience the latest offering from one of rock music’s greatest acts.
