Additional recipients include Befriend Inc, which is empowering young people to connect with themselves and the community, Swan City Youth Service, offering a program to guide young Aboriginal men towards positive pathways in life, and Folkworld, supporting the promotion of Bindjareb Noongar Aboriginal culture at this year’s Fairbridge Festival.
Racing and Gaming Minister Paul Papalia expressed satisfaction with the positive impact these grants would have on vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals in Western Australia. He highlighted the diverse range of initiatives that would benefit from the funds, including efforts to overcome gambling problems, cultural enrichment, community engagement, and infrastructure development.
The selection process for the grants program involved the evaluation of 148 applications submitted in 2023, demonstrating the high level of interest and need within the community.
