Rank One Computing (ROC.ai) has announced the launch of its new iris recognition software, which has achieved the fastest mean search speed in the NIST test. The software, which adds to the company’s existing offerings in face and fingerprint biometrics, as well as weapons and object detection, has demonstrated impressive performance in terms of speed and accuracy.

During the NIST IREX evaluation, ROC.ai’s iris recognition software achieved a search speed of 0.11 seconds when tested on a database of 1 million iris scans. This makes ROC.ai the fastest vendor in the evaluation, outperforming other established biometrics companies. Additionally, the software showcased a true match accuracy of 99.3 percent when searching two eyes and a false positive identification rate of 1.0 percent.

ROC.ai’s achievement of developing an algorithm with such competitive speed in under six months highlights the potential of American biometrics companies. In fact, its iris recognition algorithm is found to be 100 times faster than those of major companies like NEC, Idemia, and Thales.

Iris biometrics are gaining significant traction in sectors such as national security and access control due to their high accuracy. Recognizing this trend, ROC.ai has strategically focused on developing its iris recognition capabilities to meet the growing demand in these sectors.

ROC.ai’s success in the field of biometrics extends beyond iris recognition. The company is also currently the top-ranking global provider of face recognition, boasting combined accuracy and efficiency. Earlier this year, ROC.ai introduced its first fingerprint matching algorithms, in which its tenprint fingerprint segmentation algorithm achieved top rank by NIST for accurate segmentation of biometrics, demonstrating a 95.7 percent accuracy for detecting eight fingers.

Commenting on the company’s accomplishments, Scott Swann, CEO of ROC.ai, expressed pride in their ability to compete head-to-head with established foreign biometric giants. Moreover, Brendan Klare, chief scientist and co-founder, emphasized how the development of iris recognition capabilities builds on their previous successes in delivering industry-leading face and fingerprint recognition algorithms.

ROC.ai’s achievements are the result of a combination of pattern recognition scientific principles, a strong work ethic, and software engineering trade secrets. These factors have contributed to the company emerging as the fastest and most efficient computer vision algorithm developer globally.

With the successful launch of its iris recognition software, ROC.ai is poised to further solidify its position as a leader in the biometrics industry. The company’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of speed and accuracy continues to pave the way for innovative solutions in this rapidly evolving field.
