On October 14, a breathtaking natural phenomenon known as the ring of fire eclipse will grace the skies above parts of the Americas. An annular solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between Earth and the sun, but instead of completely concealing the sun like in a total solar eclipse, it appears as a dark disk juxtaposed against the sun’s larger, luminous face. Consequently, the spectacle appears as a fiery ring surrounding the moon’s dark silhouette.
