A Richmond man’s legal troubles have intensified as he faces additional felony charges related to drug and firearm possession. Farrington Street, 22, was charged on Monday in Wayne Superior Court 2 with possession of fentanyl, unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, and possession of meth. The most severe charge, a Level 3 felony, carries a maximum sentence of 16 years in prison.
Police began pursuing Street, who was already the subject of two arrest warrants, when they spotted him in alleys on the city’s south side around 3 a.m. on Friday. While fleeing from officers on foot, Street was observed dropping items. One of the items was a shoulder bag that was discovered to contain a loaded 9mm handgun, 21 grams of fentanyl, five grams of meth, and a glass smoking pipe. Additionally, a smaller amount of meth was found in Street’s pocket.
According to an officer, Street denied any connection to the shoulder bag but noted that his DNA might be present on the gun due to his associations with individuals in the area. In addition to the felony charges, Street was also charged with misdemeanors for resisting law enforcement and possession of paraphernalia. He is currently being held at the Randolph County Jail with a bond set at $45,000.
